Adult Caregivers Employee Resource Group: Managing Challenging Geriatric Behaviors

Date: Thu, 05/25/2023 | Time: 12-1pm | Location: Virtual – Zoom

Event Description

“There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.” — Rosalyn Carter

If your loved one has started displaying challenging new behaviors such as anger, suspicion, or withdrawal, there’s likely a reason behind it. Join us for a session on managing challenging geriatric behaviors. During this session, we will discuss how to navigate difficult behaviors while working together as partners.

This group is intended to virtually connect MSU faculty and staff who have caregiving responsibilities for adults in their lives and those navigating assisting a senior in their life with changing care needs. This group is open to anyone interested in connecting with other adult caregivers or learning about issues such as how to care for yourself as a caregiver, how to start conversations about living situation changes, or how to navigate end-of-life choices conversations. Meetings are the fourth Thursday of the month from 12 pm to 1 pm during the academic year. For questions contact Ebony Lucas at lucase@msu.edu.

Learning Objectives

  • How to approach challenging behaviors
  • Working together as a partnership
  • Maintaining your loved one independence
  • Tips to help you navigate difficult times.
