Women’s Networking Association

Mission

The mission of the Women’s Networking Association (WNA) is to connect professional women across campus through meaningful and empowering relationships. Providing an opportunity for women to network and support one another is an essential step for building women’s leadership at Michigan State University and in the Greater Lansing community.

WNA hosts monthly seminars which focus on professional development and leadership building. Topics have included: Effective Networking; Creating Your Brand; Goal Setting and Achievement; Communication Skills for Women; among others. WNA programs are open to all and may have particular relevance to individuals seeking to advance their careers or develop networking and leadership skills.

While these seminars are intended for professional women at MSU, WNA activities are open to all.

 

2022-2023 Events

WNA hosts monthly seminars which focus on professional development and leadership building. Seminars for AY22/23 will mainly occur on the third Wednesday of each month, varying from 12-1pm and 1-2pm presentation time slots. WNA programs are open to all but may have particular relevance to women-identifying individuals seeking to advance their careers or develop networking and leadership skills.

Meet the Committee:

Providing an opportunity for women to network and support one another is an essential step for building women’s leadership at Michigan State University and in the Greater Lansing community. 

Tina Alonzo, CM, CHRS | Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Administrator, EVPA

Tina Alonzo (pronouns she/her/hers) is a high-performing, goaldriven, results-oriented professional with a solid foundation in leadership of multigenerational teams and progressive management experience. She is a highly organized, creative leader who manages multiple priorities with a proven record of achieving key performance targets, improving outcomes on projects and initiatives, planning, and organizing team efforts, and effectively managing staff, contractors, and volunteers. Tina is the Executive Vice President for Administration (EVPA) DEI Administrator at Michigan State University (MSU), providing leadership for the strategic planning, development and implementation of the overarching diversity, equity, and inclusion agenda, initiatives, and strategic plan to the EVPA portfolio. She currently serves on several university committees, including the MSU Global DEI Task Force, Multicultural Center Planning Committee, and the Policy Library Advisory Committee. She is Chair of the Women’s Advisory Committee for Support Staff and is a member of the Michigan Diversity Council Advisory Board; certified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI); Certified Human Resources Specialist (CHRS); Certified Manager (CM); Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified; and has certificates in DEI and emerging leadership. In 2021, Tina was a recipient of the DEI Champion award recognized by the National Diversity Council.

2020-present: Girl Scout Troop Leadeer

2019-present: Member, the Women’s Networking Association planning committee at MSU.​

2019-2020: New Member, Junior League of Lansing, a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective use of trained volunteers.​

2018-2021: Member, Okemos Public Schools Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee: This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the superintendent, supporting and enhancing efforts for creating a culturally competent and responsive school environment.​

2018-2019: Parent Volunteer, Okemos Public Schools Meet the Masters: I chose artwork and created programming around each piece to educate students on the history of the period, artist, and type of artwork. ​

2010-2017: Member, Women in Science, Entrepreneurship, & Research (WISER): highlighting women excelling in science, technology, research, business, and innovation and provide women an opportunity to network and learn from one another. ​

2010-2017: Speaker and Volunteer, Expanding Your Horizons (Math/Science Network of Greater St. Louis): motivating young women in science and mathematics​
