Fathers and guardians of all ages are welcome to listen how COVID has impacted gender roles on the home front and the research on the changing role of fathers in the workplace. Speaker Dr. Brad Harrington’s research and teaching focuses on career management and work-life integration, the changing role of fathers, and contemporary workforce management strategies. 

Learning Objectives

1. Provide research on the changing role of fathers in the workplace.

2. Help participants understand how COVID has impacted gender roles on the homefront.

3. Delineate what organizations and fathers can do to foster greater gender equality for women. 

About the Speaker: Dr. Brad Harrington, Executive Director and Research Professor

 

Dr. Brad Harrington is the Executive Director of the Center for Work & Family, a research professor in the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and a faculty member in the University’s Capstone Program. Prior to his arrival at Boston College, Dr. Harrington was an executive with Hewlett-Packard Company for twenty years. He served in a wide range of global and business unit leadership assignments in the US and Europe.

Dr. Harrington’s research and teaching focuses on career management and work-life integration, the changing role of fathers, and contemporary workforce management strategies. He is a frequent keynote speaker at professional conferences and has consulted with many major employers in the areas of human resources and organizational change. He is author of Career Management and Work/Life Integration: Using Self-Assessment to Navigate Contemporary Careers (Sage, 2007) and The New Dad, a 10-year research series on how today’s fathers manage their careers and parenting responsibilities. Brad’s research has been cited by hundreds of major media outlets including the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Dr. Harrington serves on the advisory board of the International Centre of Work and Family at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain and is a research fellow of the Human Resource Policy Institute (HRPI) at Boston University. He is a graduate of Stonehill College and holds a master’s degrees in psychology from Boston College and a doctorate in human resource development from Boston University. He is married to Dr. Anne Soisson, Director of the Center for Learning & Teaching at Tufts University. They are the proud parents of Maggie (BC ’17), Hannah, & Dillon.
