Parking Information

Parking on-campus will operate as normal. If you have an employee permit, you can park in all designated employee parking spaces.

If you do not have an employee permit, you can purchase a virtual daily parking pass for $10 at permits.police.msu.edu or park in pay-by-plate lots and metered spots for $2/hour. MSU Spot On app can help make parking at pay-by-plate locations easier. Enter your information in the app ahead of time. An interactive campus map is available.

Tour MSU’s iconic Beaumont Tower and learn about its history and how the carillon works. You will climb 73 steps to the top of the tower to see and hear the carillon up close and look out the window at Spartan Stadium.

Our activities include teaching children about the UN Sustainable Development Goals through brief videos, a Kahoot, and playing the UN Go Goals Game. Children will also have the opportunity to create care/hygiene packages for those less fortunate. There will be participation prizes offered to all participants including UN SDG stickers, snacks, and fidget toys.
**The suggested age range for the activities is 8-12 years old. However, we welcome children of all ages.

The Dairy Store and Dairy Plant will provide a tour of the production floor where ice cream and cheese are made along with descriptions of some very old and very new equipment. Participants will be given a free Scoop Coupon valid for a child’s size scoop of ice cream at the Dairy Store right next door. Special Dairy Store coloring pages will be provided for free in store. There also is an observation deck where anyone can overlook the Dairy Plant floor at any time!
**Limit of 25 participants each tour. The Plant is under pending ongoing repairs and is NOT a peanut/tree nut free facility.

**Our day will be more open house-style. Families can engage in artmaking in our education wing and can use an activity sheet we provide for a self-guided tour of the galleries.

Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB)

Explore a world-leading rare isotope laboratory where nuclei are smashed into a target at half the speed of light! The secrets we learn could help explain what happens in supernovae and the origins of elements that make up the human body. With the latest $730 million update that opened in May 2022, this DOE Office of Science laboratory is pushing the boundaries of nuclear science.
**No eating, drinking, or chewing gum; no photography; handicap-accessible; safe for visitors who are pregnant or have medical implants

A Smashing Time with Nuclei
Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB)

Get hands-on with a model “nucleus” that you can accelerate and smash to make isotopes that don’t exist on Earth but might be made in the stars. Try several demonstrations that simulate the research done at MSU’s Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, a world-class nuclear laboratory!

The MSU DPPS would like to welcome guests to see the inside of our department. Stop by and meet some of our officers and our working dogs. We will tour a police car, the holding cells and other areas of our department The tour will include a tour of the department, a demonstration (K9 or CSI) and the ability to view and take photos of our police vehicles. We will have uniformed officers, non-uniformed officers and canines at this event!
**Please note: For logistical reasons, tours will be capped at 10 families per tour, on a first come first serve basis. If more than 10 families arrive for a specific timeslot, the remaining attendees will be encouraged to return for a following timeslot later in the day.
