Michigan State University is proud to participate in the national Take Your Child to Work Day event on Thursday, April 27, 2017. This year’s theme is Count on Me…To Inspire the Future.
Through programs like Take Your Child to Work Day, employers throughout the United States have provided young people with the opportunity to observe women and men who are exemplars of success. Exposing children to what a parent or mentor in their lives does during the work day is important for increasing self-esteem, providing exposure to positive role models and providing positive publicity for MSU.
You are invited to participate in this year’s program! There are many ways to be involved with numerous benefits, some of which include:
- Exposing the educational opportunities at MSU to future Spartans
- Showing appreciation to staff and faculty by encouraging their participation
- Promoting pride and teamwork in the work they do
The day’s schedule allows for participation to be flexible and enjoyable, with several tours and activities planned across campus throughout the morning and afternoon. The WorkLife Office encourages supervisors to consider providing release time for participation in these scheduled activities.
Job shadowing is also an option throughout the day, provided it has been approved by the unit administrator(s). Activities are intended for children ages 8-14 with a supervising adult.
