Care.com Services

Care.com is a service provided free of charge to all MSU affiliates – faculty, staff, students, retirees – to help you find quality childcare, eldercare, household help and services both at home and when you are away, or when your loved one lives far from you. You can post a job, search for student employees, look for a job or find service providers in your geographic area. Care.com provides extensive informational resources for managing relationships and responsibilities with service providers and employers.

Choosing the right person to care for your loved one is one of the most important decisions you will make. Although access to Care.com is provided free to all MSU affiliates, it is your responsibility to screen the providers you hire through the Care.com platform. You are also responsible for selecting care providers, negotiating rates, and paying for 100% of the cost. The MSU subsidy is free access to the search function and the ability to contact service providers and communicate in confidence using the platform.

We encourage you to visit the Care.com Safety Center for specific steps that will help ensure you are making smart hiring choices.  Some of these steps include:

  • Read reviews of Care.com candidates
  • Conduct a background check
  • Monitor your caregiver

If you have any questions about the MSU partnership with Care.com, please contact the Work-Life Office at worklife@msu.edu.

Care.com can provide phone-based assistance for people with disabilities who wish to use the Care.com service. Please call 855-781-1303 for further assistance.
