The Parent Talk System, a parenting workshop authored by Thomas Haller and Chick Moorman, is designed to improve communication and provide practical strategies for raising confident, caring, responsible children. This class is meant for parents of kids from toddlers to teens and will explore the following topics:
- Eliminating unwanted behavior
- Setting limits
- Teaching about consequences
- Giving effective feedback
- Promoting independence
- Developing character
Certificates for participation are provided upon completion of the series. Certificates will show the number of hours attended out of the number possible.
Participants have the option to attend and actively participate via computer, or an app on a tablet or smartphone.
*Note: This is a series class and participants must plan on attending all six weeks.
About the Presenter: Courtney Aldrich is a Program Instructor for the Child and Family Development team. She trains on early childhood topics for early childhood educators, caregivers, and parents, including topics on preparing children for school success in early childhood and social and emotional health in young children. She also provides family education and support through parenting trainings and collaborative parent-child learning experiences. She also trains directly with children on topics of social and emotional health. Prior to her work at MSU Extension, Courtney worked as a preschool director and teacher, children and family ministries educator and director, and adult educator.
