Wellbeing Wednesdays: Eco Therapy: Balance in Your Life

Date: Wed, 03/22/2023 | Time: 12pm – 1pm | Location: Virtual – Zoom

Event Description

Autumn and spring both hold within an equinox marking the beginning of the season. During the equinox, the amount of daylight we experience is equal to the amount of dark. This is a built-in reminder to consider our own balance. This looks different for each person and can change depending on one’s life circumstances. Sometimes, it is helpful to look to nature for queues on when and how to assess and implement our own best version of balance.

Learning Objectives

  •  Discover how balance is vital to nature and the survival of species
  • Gain skills for self-reflection inspired by the natural world
  • Practice applying nature’s techniques for maintaining equilibrium to your own life

About the Speaker: Windi Sterling, LMSW (she/her/hers)

Windi works as a therapist at the MSU Center for Survivors. She grew up with a strong connection to the natural world — climbing trees, playing in the dirt, and cuddling any animal that crossed her path. As an Ecotherapy practitioner, she is never surprised to see the profound impact that nature has on the healing process of her clients. Windi is a graduate of the MSW program here at Michigan State University, and she has focused her career on working with trauma survivors, specifically those who have experienced domestic and sexual violence.
