Virtual Adult Caregiver Focus Group

Date: Friday, November 10, 2023  | Time: 12:00 – 1:00pm | Location: Virtual – Zoom

Event Description

Open and FREE to all faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate student assistants.

Join us for this one hour virtual session to share your input on the journey of balancing our career and family responsibilities.

An Adult Caregiver Focus Group aims to bring together employees who are responsible for caring for an adult, such as an aging parent or a spouse with special needs, to assess their unique challenges and needs. This focus group will serve as a platform to identify what support and resources are most beneficial for these caregivers. The insights gained will help the WorkLife Office formulate supports and programs and to provide resources that make it easier for adult caregivers to integrate (balance) their professional and personal responsibilities.

The focus group session will include a series of questions designed to delve into the various topics affecting adult caregivers. Participants will have the opportunity to provide their honest feedback and share their personal experiences. It’s important to note that this session is primarily aimed at hearing from you—the caregivers—about your emerging needs and challenges. This is not a session where MSU’s WorkLife Office (WLO) will be providing resources; instead, we want to focus on understanding the specific issues that MSU faculty and staff who are caregivers of adults face. The insights collected will be instrumental in shaping future policies and programs to better serve our caregiving community.

Your name will not be associated with any of the concerns or comments you share during the focus group from the MSU WorkLife Office. We will also ask all participants to respect this and not to share what they hear during the session, in order to maintain a safe and open environment for everyone. We cannot guarantee confidentiality but we will do our best to obtain group agreement to these guidelines.

Topics include:

  • Managing career and caregiving responsibilities
  • Common stressors
  • Caregiving resources
  • Caregiving support
  • Work-life support
  • Informational resources
