Supervisor Training Series (Class 4 of 4): Equitable Decision Making

Date: Thu, 12/01/2022 | Time: 1-2pm | Location: Virtual – Zoom

Event Description

Do you manage employees who are navigating a chronic health condition? The WorkLife Office is offering a Supervisor Training Series that will give you the information and tips needed to effectively support your employees with chronic health conditions (both mental and physical) while fostering a well workplace.

As a supervisor, you may find yourself in challenging situations which place the solution at the supervisor’s discretion. When it comes to managing an employee with a chronic health condition, it can be of even higher importance that a message of support and acceptance is communicated to the employee, while maintaining a sense of equity amongst the employee and their team members. During this closing session of the 4-Part Supervisor Training series, you will learn how to make equitable decisions that can be beneficial for teams with employees who have chronic health conditions.

The Supervisor Training Series will take place on the 1st Thursday each month for the Fall 2022 semester:

  • September 1, 2022: Supporting Employees with Chronic Health Conditions (Both Mental and Physical)
  • October 6, 2022: Trauma Informed Care
  • November 3, 2022- Signs of Stress and Distress
  • December 1, 2022: Equitable Decision Making

Learning Objectives

  • Distinguish equity from equality
  • Understand the moral imperative of equitable decision making
  • Determine why equity matters to teams with employees who have chronic health conditions
