Reflection on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebrations

Date: January 26, 2024 | Written by: Jaimie Hutchison, Director, WorkLife Office

The 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration at Michigan State University focused on “Courageous Leadership and an Unwavering Commitment to Civil Rights, Equity, and Social Justice.” The event, held from January 12 to January 19, 2024, engaged the community in critical discussions and activities reflecting Dr. King’s legacy. We extend our gratitude to the planning committee and co-chairs, including Ebony Lucas from the WorkLife Office, for their dedication to this inspiring event. In addition to the main events of the 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration at MSU, it’s notable that the associated Stuff the Library event will continue through the end of February, aligning with Black History Month. This extension provides an extended opportunity for the community to engage with and reflect upon the themes of civil rights, equity, and social justice.
