MSU WorkLife Director Jaimie Hutchison, MA, LPC
Honored to be selected, proud to serve
College and University Work-Life-Family Association (CUWFA) elects Jaimie Hutchison, Michigan State University’s WorkLife Office Director, as President Elect for the 2023/2024 Board of Directors. This will mark 30 years of MSU’s involvement in CUWFA. MSU was one of the founding institutions of the national work-life organization, founded in 1993.
“We are thrilled to see Jaimie elected into this critical leadership position. At a time when workforce challenges are significant across many institutions, Jaimie will bring a fresh perspective, continuing MSU's tradition of leading when it comes to supporting work-life and employee wellbeing."
University Health and Wellbeing Assistant Provost and Executive Director Alexis Travis
Sometime in 1993 a group of work-life focused women invited interested colleagues working on work-life issues to a meeting in Michigan. Roughly 20 women attended. Discussions ran late into the night, and the group left with a decision to launch a new professional organization called the College and University Work-Family Association. CUWFA’s original Steering Committee members included: Michigan State University, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, Northwestern, University of Oregon, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard.
In May 1994, professionals from approximately twenty colleges and universities gathered in Chicago for what became the first official College and University Work-Life Association conference.
Hutchison will be presenting Work-life Through an Equity Lens to an audience of national work-life leaders and practitioners this June in Virginia at the CUWFA Conference.
“I am proud to be moving into a CUWFA senior leadership role. History is not lost to me. I am inspired to continue the work others started thirty years ago,” Hutchison said. “This amazing group of colleagues from across the country has been a rich source of sharing best practices and working together towards our shared goals to support the wellbeing, and personal and professional lives of staff and faculty in higher education.”
