As I reflect on the past two years supporting you as the Director of the WorkLife Office (WLO), I am filled with deep gratitude and pride for what we have achieved together. It has been an extraordinary period of growth, collaboration, and community building, supported by the unwavering support and dedication of my incredible team: Rachel Perez, Ebony Lucas, and Alaina Charette and our dedicated interns. Their exceptional talent and commitment have been the cornerstone of our success to help you focus on being your most creative and productive self.

Unforgettable Milestones

In a significant stride towards holistic wellbeing, the WorkLife Office has become an integral part of University’s Health and Wellbeing (UHW). This strategic move has brought us together with 10 other visionary leaders from across the university to form a unified front in to build an inclusive environment, where every Spartan feels valued and supported.

A few events stand out as particularly memorable:

  • Take Your Child to Work Day (TYCTWD) saw record attendance last year, showcasing the vibrant community spirit that defines us. This year’s April 11 event is sure to be just as engaging!
  • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration planning committee has been a meaningful way to honor Dr. King’s legacy while advancing our collective commitment to social justice and equity.
  • The Women’s Networking Association focuses on amplifying women’s voices across the university, fostering an environment of empowerment and growth.
  • The Faculty/Staff Veteran committee is committed to supporting veterans through their unique challenges, ensuring their successful integration into our academic and workplace community.

Remarkable Growth and Impact

The growth we’ve experienced is nothing short of remarkable and I’m grateful that you are utilizing our services to organize your professional life, so that you have the time you need to attend to family and other priorities.

  • 56% increase in consultations in our 1st year
  • 76% increase in attendees at presentations and events in the 2nd year
  • 800+ supervisors engaged in a training series
  • 600+ employees participating in the five Employee Resource Groups
  • 3,300 hours of backup dependent care utilized

Looking Forward

As we look ahead, I am filled with optimism and excitement for the future of how we can continue to better serve you and support your workplace wellbeing. I encourage you to seek out additional resources you might not have explored in the past to work towards a thriving, balanced, and fulfilling work-life integration and wellbeing.
