MSU Staff and Faculty: 
 
We are delighted to provide an update on the status of the caregiving initiative at MSU. As you may be aware, President Stanley charged a cross-functional Caregiving Work Group with building the foundation of a university-wide caregiver program that prioritizes support for faculty, academic staff, and support staff. We would like to thank this group of committed Spartans who served on the committee for their dedicated work on this critical initiative. The initial recommendations from the Work Group include efforts to increase awareness, fund caregiving resources, and revise relevant policies. They also provide suggestions to enhance collaboration and sustainability as well as how to make MSU an employer of choice in this area. 
 
Some initiatives are already underway through collaborations among the WorkLife Office, Human Resources, Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs, and Academic Governance. For example, subsidized care options are available to address particular needs, and efforts are underway to advance bereavement and sick leave policies. 
 
Advancing a university-wide caregiving program remains a high, institutional-level priority. We now invite your input and feedback to aid in prioritizing some of the committee recommendations by way of this Caregiving Prioritization Survey, available now through October 17th. 
 
Please reach out to Human Resources if you have any questions about this survey and thank you in advance for your participation. After reviewing the survey results, we will continue our work towards advancing caregiving at MSU.
